Need a mobile app? Go fish….

Blog, Social Media, Startup Sitdowns

As you may have seen in my previous post, I am launching a new series on my blog called “Sitdowns With Startups.” The following is the first installment.

I had the pleasure of meeting Ash Nadkarni a few months ago at an Innovation Breakfast. Right off the bat I was intrigued to learn that in addition to being a startup co-founder, she’s currently finishing her psychiatric residency. My interest was even further piqued when she mentioned having researched the neuropsychiatric motivations for social media adoption, the findings from which were published.

Ash’s startup, AppGuppy, was recently featured in Mass High Tech’s Startup Watch: Five you should follow and describes itself as “a simple do-it-yourself tool for fast creation and even faster distribution of mobile apps that work on any smartphone, through any OS.” They left out perhaps the best part: It’s FREE! I sat down with Ash for a chat earlier this week. The following video shows excerpts from our conversation (apologies in advance for the coffee shop background noise):

Having tested the tool myself last week, I can tell you that the entire process from start to finish was surprisingly quick and easy. I encourage you to give it a try if your business could benefit from a cross-platform mobile app and doesn’t have room in its budget for the astronomical expenses normally associated with creating one. I can also see the benefits of creating an app to promote your personal brand (as I am in the process of doing) to keep interested parties apprised of your latest updates and content.

The AppGuppy team has created a fun 60-second promotional video, which you can watch below (click here to view it if you don’t see the video).

For more on AppGuppy, you can read an interview with them on the MITX blog here.

Be on the lookout for the Dave Cutler app coming soon….
